The Interrent staff tried to sell me additional insurance and to presuade me that the cover purchased from Auto Europe was inadequate. They were very pushy on this matter. If the pick up had been at night or in a basement car park with no natural light, this would not have been possible. I found the experience very intimidating. "

The worst experience I 've ever experienced in travelling to Girona over last 13 years with car hire companies. Car hire alone this year comes to 9 occasions. Having prepaid the rental what is the problem with car hire companies not expediting speedily. It appears they all want to charge exorbitant insurance fees and if not taken renter is verbalised with dire consequences - no roadside assistance etc etc. What a way to start a holiday!! The guy was determined to sell us additional insurance which created doubts with us so we paid 44 euro for break in damage as he told us depending on breakdown we would be charged an additional 325 euro even though we purchased the excess insurance with initial booking. there were quite a lot of scrapes and dents on the car. so did not feel comfortable with car. " The whole experience of Auto Europe was very poor. The price quoted was not correct as an additional ?65 was added at the Interrent desk when I arrived. As the provider of the service Auto Europe must be responsible for the contract details and ensure no difference between the broker and the provider. The experience at the Airport was horrific - where we stood in a queue for 4 hours. When we finally got through the incredibly slow process of documentation, we were given a car with considerable damage evident on front and side of car. We took photos and informed desk (another 30minute delay) but they said it did not matter but keep the photos. I intend to submit a formal complaint in the coming days. " Worst ever experience of car rental - arrived at desk 5.30pm, queued for 3.5 hours, 30 minutes to process documentation, extra charge for insurance which was not included in the Auto Europe quote (?65 extra). About 2 hours standing in Queue when one of the two staff walked out of office and said she was going home, when asked why the delay - she said the company will not provide extra staff and they cannot cope with the work load. She was visibly upset and said she had informed her manager but would not give us any name to contact - recommended we complain to the company, she then left for home with one girl left to do work at the desk. Was processed at 9.10pm, got car with damage at 9.30, overall horrific service - I plan to make complaint "

" Interrent is Europcar but with bad service. You have to be very careful with these guys. Pay attention as they will block 900 Euro for excess, because Autoeurope cover is not considered to them. Also they have this ridiculous "Fueling Charge" which is 40 Euro extra to the price. Pay attention to the smallest scratches and make sure to mention it in the contract. Interrent offered me a car with only one scratch recorded in the front, however, when I took out the car, I noticed and insisted with flashlights to mention many other scratches. "

" The car had many marks making it difficult to match with sheet recording same. We got a puncture and there was no spanner in the boot for unscrewing nuts on wheel. We rang and an engineer was sent out. He took off the wheel and we had puncture repaired. On returning the car at airport we were told that we should have brought the punctured wheel to the airport to Interrent. That would have meant driving on the temporary wheel about 20 kilometres. We were never told that we had to do so. We had it repaired locally paying for it ourselves. We were delayed 20 minutes because of this and told that the retention deposit 1,000 would be held until the wheel was examined. Had the spanner been in the boot there would have been no problem or delay. "

" Not happy really about the difference in renting a car for less or more than 4 days...less than, you have to return the petrol tank full - as usual elsewhere...but more than 4 days - return it empty, so being charged the extortionate virtual double proper price for a tank (by the hire company) - and no doubt usually paying for petrol which you don't wholly use...I think the company should have one policy of customers having to return the car with a full tank - much fairer. "
