During rental, I clipped a kerb whilst parking, with slightly damage to a hub cap. This was picked up on return and is undisputed. I was told I would receive drop off paperwork by email. They took €178.11 from my credit card immediately, without explanation It took me three weeks and multiple emails to get the basic information which would allow me to claim on my car hire excess insurance. At one point, Goldcar emailed to say my case had been "solved" despite there being no contact between us. Another email lectured me about my responsibility to be familiar with terms of rental - I was fully aware but Goldcar seem not to recognise their moral responsibility to explain how they use my money and to display some respect for their customer. "

" Hi Auto Europe, I have used your website several times when booking car hire and i have always had a positive experience. Unfortunately on this occassion, I had a very disappointing experience with Goldcar, despite always having positive experiences previously with other AutoEurope rental agents. This time was our first using Gold Car and we faced several issues: Misleading Booking: We had specifically booked and paid extra for a convertible Fiat 500 but were given a Mitsubishi SUV, which we did not want. The staff claimed it was an upgrade and were unhelpful and rude when we expressed dissatisfaction. When I pressed about the alternative options available to find a solution that we were happy with: such as other convertible models or any Fiat 500 models/smaller cars, we were informed by the employee that Goldcar Palma does not even own a convertible Fiat 500 or any other convertible models - this comment raised a lot of questions and frustrations on my behalf as to why I was given option to book, it suggested it was a scam. Rude and Unhelpful Staff: The initial staff member and the manager were dismissive and offered no alternatives, insisting I accept the Mitsubishi or they would cancel the booking. E.g. I asked for alternative smaller cars, automatics or any other available compromises, I was dismissed and threatened that if i didn't take what I was given they could cancel my booking. Eventually I gave up in dispair and accepted what we had been given. Car Issues: The Mitsubishi's battery died on the third day, despite no apparent cause. The assistance process was poorly handled by Gold Car with the staff member struggling to understand and competently record details such as our address etc. We provided a contact number for him to share with the mechanic but I was informed by the mechanic that he unable to contact us due to incorrect information provided by Goldcar. They had given the mechanic a goldcar number that was closed for the evening/unreachable. So we were just lucky that we had been vigilant and had spotted his truck or he may have returned home unable to find us. Additional Hassle: As we had driven the car for over an hour earlier that day and no lights or things had been left on which might drain a battery, the mechanic suggested the car might have been idle for a long time or had underlying issues. He recommended we request a replacement from Gold Car. However, we chose not to deal with Goldcar again due to their previous negative interactions knowing full well we would probably not get anywhere. *It is worth noting the mechanic was a pleasure to deal with, he was patient, helpful and courtous. Overall, it was a very bad experience. We feel we got scammed, paying a premium for a convertible and given something completely different. The staff made you feel at fault and were rude and unhelpful and finally we had the inconvenience of the car's breakdown, which ruined our dinner plans for that evening. " On dealing with the registration desk in Barcelona Airport I was asked to sign an authorisation for Euro 343.15. This I was assured would be refunded approximately 1 day back to my account after the return of the car, I am ABSOLUTELY clear that your representative said "this is only a deposit". My account was refunded with Euro 138,only. And no there was no discussion about extra insurance in the event that I broke down or got a scratch on the car. I have independently purchased car insurance to cover any excesses that may have arisen. I have been travelling to continental Europe and hiring cars for over 20 years and am very much aware of issues surrounding the extra cost of insurance. I am absolutely sure that this money should be refunded to my account, and should have been refunded to my account before my return home from Spain. To put it in perspective I traveled to Malaga after Barcelona and guess what 1 day later I got my fuel surcharge refund and invoice to settle my account . The Rent company, GoldCar, however, could improve how they treat customers....I was left waiting at Seville Airport for almost an hour, while GoldCar rep. waited for later arrivals...then when we arrived at the GoldCar site, there was a long queue... in blazing sunshine....big delay! Goldcar is situated on a site remote from Seville Airport....on leaving, it is difficult to negotiate the minor roads in order to access the Autovia. Also, when returning the car to Goldcar, it is difficult to recognise the correct junctions. Goldcar need to provide more detailed maps and English language assistance. "
" GoldCar needs to respect and improve how they treat customers....I was left waiting at Seville Airport for almost an hour, while GoldCar rep. waited for later arrivals...then when we arrived at the GoldCar site, there was a long queue... in blazing sunshine....big delay... very uncomfortable! Why can they not provide an air-conditioned waiting area? Goldcar is situated on site remote from Seville Airport....on leaving, it is difficult to negotiate the minor roads in order to access the Autovia. Also, when returning the car to Goldcar, it is difficult to recognise the correct junctions. Goldcar needs to provide more detailed maps/directions and English language assistance. Next year, I will strongly consider SVQ-based car rental. "

" Initial fuel charge of 95 was not so bad given that it lasted almost entire two weeks. Original rental cost was so reasonable, I paid the insurance at airport for 75 -great peace of mind. Car provided was a Seat Altea with only 9 km on the clock. Only gripe was the long queue on arrival - over an hour. Overall really satisfied. Will use again "

" Very friendly and efficient agent at the desk with no waiting due to arriving at a quiet time. Was given new car with less than 1000 km. At Girona airport there is no individual to check the condition of the rental car when it is returned. Keys have to handed in at the desk in the terminal. Personally I would prefer to have the car signed off. It leaves one open to possible charges later when it is not possible to contest the condition of the car. "
