" Dollar turned out to be Hertz, which I normally avoid having been scammed by them before on extra charges. Yet again there was upselling at the collection point - I booked an SUV and they offered me a huge van. When I said that wasn't acceptable, suddenly an SUV was available but a more expensive model requiring an upgrade charge. As if that wasn't bad enough, they tried the usual extra insurance charge hard sell. And, again, they scammed me with a damage charge for "scratches" on the car which were not there and which the returning agent did not point out at the time of return. Avoid dollar - it's Hertz and they will scam you. "

" We thought we would be dealing with Dollar but we were dealing with Hertz. We returned the car only to get an email to say that there was new damage done which was caused by us, which there wasn't. There were a couple of scratches at the boot door obviously made by items being placed in and removed from the boot. These marks were there when we picked it up. We took a photo of it which we have sent on to you. I think it is wrong of your company to charge us for something we have not caused. We were not told when we picked up the car to report any damage that was not on the paperwork before we left that is why we took the photo. We are very disappointed we what has happened. "

" I have used your company before and I had no problems at all. This time I did not know that Dollar was located outside the Airport and we could not find the bus to bring us to the office. That was all ok in the end, I had the car for 7 day but only drove it to the hotel and back a total of €3.50 of petrol. When I brought it back the lady said there was a new mark on the car. She showed me a small white mark about 1.5 inches long under the door. I personally know I did not touch anything and the car was locked in the hotel car park for the week. So she charged me €145 for this. She showed me around 10 other marks on the car and there were photos of theses. So getting €145 for each mark and not repairing any of them I taught this was a way of getting more money from the rental. It all left a bad taste in my mouth. I will go back to Hertz. Sorry for the rant but I had just had a lovely week. Padraig "

" Our experience was incredibly poor. The guy we dealt with at the car rental counter was probably the rudest person I have ever encountered. It started off badly when my husband produced our reservation details and the guy behind the counter said "this car is too small for you" - we had booked a car suitable for 4 people which is the size of our family. My husband, who was the primary driver, had his credit card scammed with fraudulent activity the day before we flew to Barcelona and had to cancel his credit card. We explained this to the guy behind the desk and he "that's too bad, you won't be getting a car today" and proceeded to rip up our confirmation letter. I tried to ask him was there an exception that could be made in such circumstances and my credit card could be used as security and he said it wasn't possible. I asked him for options on what we could do and he wasn't helpful at all. He said if we didn't like it to talk to his supervisor, who was sitting beside him and just ignored what was going on. I rang auto europe to see if we had any options which we didn't other than to pay to add me on as an additional driver. We did this in the end and dealt with a different lady, who was very helpful. I will never book through Dollar/Auto Europe after this experience as it was incredibly stressful for our family and our children having to experience dealing with someone like this rude man. "

" Not as expected.Arrived at 12.10 and was charged late pick up fee. If I was more than 30 min to an hour late then this would be justifiable. On returning the vehicle, a small mark ( approx 1cm) on the lower end of the front bumper was regarded as a claim by Dollar. The number plate was already bent when picked up, so this minor mark could probably have been there prior to picking the vehicle. The plate caught my attention. The mark Is insignificant when compared to the large scrape marks on the vehicle. Is Dollar trying to illicit extra revenue to cover the reduced car hire fee. "
