" i have used budget avis many times, mainly through munich. when i saw their offer on the Lanzarote site, i automatically booked with them. unfortunately i failed to realise that they were not in the airport. they were new to aticiffe and were remote (most unusual for budget avis) nobody seemed to know where they were situated and only after a while were we able to find a shuttle bus in a car park, very hidden away. then we had a few km drive to their new office. staff seemed untrained. car had a few dents etc but we were just shown photos and not given a damage report as is normal. would i use them again? not at this location until they get an office in the airport and have cars there "

" Avis in lanzarote is off the airport. I was unaware of this. There were no signs. It was stressful to start with but eventually we found a van parked up in the parking lot. The car was fine as were the admin procedures. I had issues with the sat nav which tool me a few days to iron out. It would have been helpful if a member of staff had helped me. On returning the car I had to wait 45 minutes for the transfer to the airport. Only when I rand a taxi did they respond to my request. So in part the experience was excellent but getting to and fro from the airport is a problem. I never book off airport and I wouldn't have done it this time had I known. "

" I was required to provide a pre authorization of €129 at the counter. When I queried this amount which was to cover full tank of fuel I was a advised that while fuel was c€60, there was a problem with prepayment voucher provided by Auto Europe which suggested I had only paid €178 for the car rather than the €248 actually paid. We resolved this subsequently but it delayed overall transaction. "
" While I am an Avis Preferred customer, given that I booked via Auto Europe I could not collect car at preferred counter. This caused some delay which on this occasion was only 15/20 minutes but was one hour in my previous visit in June. "

" Overall experience was okay but the car had a really bad smell. Everyone in the family noticed and remarked on it. I wondered if it was a broken catalytic converter or something. I probably should have complained to Avis to see if we could switch the car but for a week long rental it didn't seem worth the bother. Also I was promised a Seat Ibiza or similar - I was given an Opel Corsa. When I pointed out to the counter staff member that I was disappointed as I didn't believe the Corsa was as big as the Ibiza. I was assured that the new model of Corsa was just as big. I've since checked and the boot of an Ibiza is 355 litres whereas the boot of a Corsa is 285 litres. That's a 20% difference which is very significant on a family holiday. "

I rushed into Airport Information desk, and they suggested me to run to the opposite side of the hall, find the desk with AVIS temporary label and ask what to do. Near the desk I was told to wait for AVIS manager who ran up and down with customers, and after some indefinite time was expected to be there. Finally, I checked-in my car, and it was just 15 minutes before my plane boarding was closed. "

" Normally good, but this time I'm disappointed. Petrol in both cars were not full when we got them. By the time we noticed, it was too late, we had already left the airport car park and on the way to Playa Blanca. I feel that it was disingenuous of AVIS that they insisted on us presenting them with a receipt after hire to show the tank is filled before return and yet the tank in the C4 was missing about 1/6 of the petrol from the start. I realized I should have checked before leaving the airport so lesson learned. The C4 was also not properly valeted from a previous hire. Washer jets also ran out of water after a few washes. This is not what I expected from a respected car hire company which I have trusted many times before. "
