" I rent a car from 4 to 6 times a year. Each time I compare with other sites. Generally autoeurope have the better package. However I have noticed 2 development. An increasing tendancy for full CDW not to be available and an increased presence of companies like Rentscape(in Nantes) which have low customer rating. When I rent a car I do not want to have difficulties with a sector in the market who rent cheaply, use older less well maintained stock and are more likely to try and impose additional charges after rental. I chose based on overall value and reputation rather than price. "
" Following on from a bad experience with Hertz in Nantes in November this was definitely a better experience, though this breakdown charge is annoying. It is obviously an EV driven charge but one would expect that rental cars being in their first year of use should not have mechanical issues and if so should be included. After all post covid car rental has increased considerably in cost, especially if like me you take full cover. "

" The additional charges made by Hertz are not transparent and the rental was very expensive. We paid Auto Europe €598.81 but were only credited CHF 511.20. We were not aware that additional charges would be added for cross border fee(which we accepted), tax, vehicle licence fee, and location service charge. What is this? These hidden charges meant that the actual cost of the rental very significantly higher than we had understood in our dealing with Auto Europe. "

" Car had mechanical problem after 5th day of driving. Warning light came up on dashboard that if it was my own car I would have get it towed directly to the mechanic. There was loss of power at high speed. It sounded like sports car but running like a turtle. I was advised by the staff over the phone to get it replaced. However upon arrival at the airport parking the Hertz staff was very dismissive. He test drive the car at the parking area only and said there was no mechanic around and the car is ok. I looked to my wife and said no point of arguing. That man sounds arrogant. We used the same car and drove off and not to ruin our holiday. "

" When we received our paperwork and car keys we proceeded to the pickup point.I went into the Hertz office and asked about my car,two gentlemen were there."It's in the bay with your number written on the front of your agreement"he continued to talk with his colleague!!! I asked for directions to Lausanne?"Left and left again" he said without looking at me.Such bad manners I thought.We examined the car and established it is petrol,no faults or marks.We got a good car thank you. " Subject: CLAIM FOR DAMAGE UNDER REFUNDABLE EXCESS COVER Auto Europe voucher number EU12613123-1 Hertz Confirmation no.H 31744205F5 Dear Autoeurope I had booked a car under Auto Europe voucher number EU12613123-1 for a car from Hertz at Zurich Airport from June 20 to July 08, 2017. This booking included refundable excess cover from Auto Europe. I returned the car to Hertz on July 07th evening and was informed by Hertz that there were certain minor scratches on the front passenger right side of the vehicle. I am not aware of how or when these scratches occurred or any impact or damage occurring while driving the car. Hertz officials said that I would be informed the estimated cost of repair along with photos ..continuing below... "

The damage being minimal it seems unreasonable for Hertz to have debited my Credit card with this amount. Since my rental includes refundable excess cover from Autoeurope, please inform me what the procedure is in this matter and how I shall receive the claim amount from you. I would appreciate your taking up this matter with Hertz expeditiously. "
