People queued at the counter for more than one hour with only one staff processing booking and several customers waiting to pick up a car. The staff was indefatigable and made all efforts to speed up proceedings. Managemenet should have envisaged the problem and ensured more staff was present at the counter. In the end we were upgraded to a larger car, which we were very happy with. The return of the car was easy and stress free. "

If this fee could be waived I would have no hesitation in recommending Autoeurope and Sicly By. car to friends and family. " I have been a client of Sicily by Car for over 15 years .I rent a car every 5/6 times a year from Milan , Bologna and Rome for up to 2/3 weeks at a time also short rents 4/5 days . I ordered and paid for 2 weeks in advance a medium car . When I arrived and asked for my rental I was told that all they had was a Lancia Ypision . When I enquired about this I was told quite abruptly in front of other customers that I should read the small print as they have right to give any car with 4 doors. I had no choice but to take it as I had business meetings the next morning in Marche. Bad as that was when I say the car it was a complete disgrace. 87000 km on clock damaged badly on one side door roof and inside door . The car was not cleaned inside or out . I have unfortunately booked and paid of their cars for a 10 day holiday from Bologna from the 17 June and it will be my last booking with Sicily by Car after over 15 years. Laurence Coleman "

" Overall good service, one very disappointing issue. The rental voucher clearly states that the first additional driver is free. This was not honoured at the counter despite it being very clearly stated on the rental voucher. The counter staff said I had to pay €180 to put my wife as a named driver. I did not pay this as my wife was only with me for six days out of the total 18 days rental but it was very inconvenient not having the second driver. It is not right to state in a rental voucher that the first additional driver is included in the price and then refuse it at the counter. Sicily by car of course blamed auto Europe as promoter getting it wrong. The availability of an additional driver free of charge is often the deciding factor for in renting a car. We rent a car several times a year in Rome and unlikely to go with auto Europe due to this issue. Regards ronan "

The tyre pressure warning came on straight after rental started and the adblue warning came on on the second day of the rental. For hygiene and safety the cars should be serviced/inspected and valeted prior to each rental. I did point this out to the staff at the desk but I was advised that it is not their responsibility as the cars are prepared by a subcontractor. But isn't Sicily by car responsible for their subcontractors? "

" The car I was given was mechanically perfect. However the exterior of the car was not. Most panels had scratches and marks. The front wheels had kerb scratches. This did not worry me but what I did dislike was that Sicily by car had only marked two of the scratches on the booking form. I had to take photos and show the damage to the person giving me the keys. I have read lots of articles recently where people have been charged for damage that was already present on the vehicle. I do not know if Sicily by Car deliberately did not record all the damage on the car and after I pointed out the damage the person recorded and signed my copy of the booking form. It was examined by a 2nd, and then a 3rd, and finally by the manager. They concluded this was new damage, and that I would have to fill in an insurance form. There was no additional charge as I had taken out the Excess insurance. The car was parked for most of the week, and there is no way that the minor damage was done during my week of hire. Unfortunately the car didn?t have wind screen washer liquid that it could have a bad impact on my journey to Turin in the motorway at 23:00 in the night with 2 daughters in the car. When I topped it up the nizzle wher spray the wather everywhere but in the screen. Car check and preparation should have this checked as a basic safe feature. And no apology from the personnel. It was embarrassing taking my customers around the next few days in such a vehicle and created a terrible impression. " I had a flat tyre and found that there was no spare wheel, just an emergency repair kit which didn't work. I called the helpline and found the staff had great difficulty in working out where the car was and directing a tow truck to the scene - they gave the driver the wrong road number and it was only because I was with my Italian speaking brother that we were able to direct him to the correct road. This was on a Saturday night and as the following day was a Sunday nothing could be done. On the next day, Monday, we found that the garage that the car had been taken to had to order a tyre so I never got the car back, having to take a taxi the 250 km to Pescara. If the car had a proper spare wheel none of this inconvenience would have happened "

When we returned the car to Bari the staff tried to blame me for some of the damage to the car, but accepted my photos as proof that the damage was old. No apology or offer of refund for fuel or tolls for the inconvenience from the representative. A second amount was then blocked from my card for the replacement car. The company are a complete joke and I would not recommend them to anyone. "
