" Hello, the cost of this rental was exceptionally high, but I understand that is an issue for all companies. However, I have now received an additional charge of €280 that I do not understand. There was nobody at the airport when I returned the car at 6am and the dropbox was broken. This was very concerning as we didnt know what to do to ensure the car wasnt robbed. Therefore I and other customers left the keys at the desk counter. I have downloaded an invoice in Italian and there is a charge for damage repair to the car, but there was no damage? I have photo evidence to show this. The amount paid on the invoice (€711) does not match the amount paid on the autoeurope voucher (€744). So while the car (fiat panda) was fine, the cost for 6 days is now €1,000, and I cannot understand this from the invoice. I will try to contact budget about this. "

" The initial invoice had lots of additional charges that i thought i has already paid - location surcharges of 46.32€, road tax 20.01€, etc. On return of the car there was some slight damage of a scratch to the bonnet. They charged me 300€ plus an admin fee of 65€ plus 22% VAT for a total of 445.30€. However on top of this they also added another 100€ to the fees and surcharges (now 146€ instead of the original 46€) - they claimed this was airport tax payable on the damage fee which i argued with as being ridiculous and a scam. This additional damage tax is not indicated as such on my receipt so this 100€ i will not be able to claim on insurance. I think this is actual fraud by budget and am disgusted at their working practices - i was told they would email me a complete receipt with full details within a few days but i still have not received anything. I will never use budget again after this terrible experience. "

" 1. Paid what I expected to be the total amount (€127) online when I booked. At counter I was scare-mongered into paying another €218 for insurance - sneaky, deliberately only done at the counter where the customer is stressed, vulnerable , tired and under pressure. 2. The agent was not very clear about the charges but we clarified as much as we could given the language barrier. 3. We were travelling to Switzerland - at the border we had to pay €40 for road tax - its an annual fee that I'm sure lots of other Budget car rental customers have paid for before - why not retain the stickers to be re-used by customers who travel to Switzerland - no cost to Budget and a positive customer experience 4. On returning the car we filled it up at the garage and then spent about 20 mins looking for the drop off zone which was not sign posted at all (while not Budget's responsibility it did have an significant impact on the experience). To top off the poor experience 5. Finally, I get home to see that Budget is not content to rip me off with just the standard price 127 plus the 'insurance' 218 but have also now kept the 'bond' that was supposed to be only on hold. Auto Europe are in the process of disputing this on my behalf. "

I was disappointed this last visit not to get the Fiat 500 as the road in to the borgo is very stony. The replacement car was a fine one but not really high enough off the ground for us. I had to crawl in and out the avenue. I would suggest that your staff might be quicker at the hire desk. On several occasions they've left customers waiting while they chat amongst themselves. Last week one girl dealt with a number of customers on her own while her colleague chatted away with another colleague. It's very frustrating after a flight, especially for people with tired and bored children in tow, to wait for a long period while the staff seem to having a chitchat. Your staff are lovely and helpful but that is the one recurring irritation I experience regularly. Is there any way you could improve the time spent at the desk? "

" A week before the rental, I tried to get some confirmation about the amount to be blocked on my credit card for the excess. AutoEurope Russia (phone call) gave me 2.4 kEUR + fuel. AutoEurope Global/Germany (email - title "Booking 14755226") gave me 1.8 kEUR + fuel. Nobody was certain and I had conflicting information - so I had to go ahead and get myself a higher credit card limit. Not something I planned to do. In the end, the lady at the Budget checkout only blocked the fuel deposit - a total of 84 EUR! I am shocked at the inability of AutoEurope staff to interpret their own contracts and policies and give us correct information. The rating 6 reflects that overall I'm satisfied with the AutoEurope experience (have been using the service for many years) but very disappointed with the lack of help from AutoEurope staff. "
