" Great experience, Kevin was providing a very professional and friendly service, he did went an extra mile for all customers in the line. Unfortunately this is one off, every time at the counter you find different staff providing different services... There is no consistency and it make like a lottery, feel special for today and terrible next time. I have another booking ready made for March in Pisa then I will have to reconsider the car provider. " It was my first time using AutoEurope and I liked, apart from our problem of the car category with AVIS. "
" It wasn't a great experience at all in any way, apart from not crashing the car or anything like that. We booked an JEEP or similar, into the SUV CATEGORY, but hen we got to the rental desk, they had a van for us (it was a van that I don't know even the brand, never seen one before, really big and ugly, like a school van you know?) and of course I refused that and asked if they could give us a Fiat 500 or any smaller one, once we paid that much because it was our honey moon, my husband was really excited about getting an SUV and because we were going to Livigno in the Alps while snowing and so an 4x4 would be also needed. The staff was laughing the whole time as if they were drunk or high and they (a boy and a girl) wanted so bad give us that car saying that was the same category which really pissed me off and was clear that wasn't. In the end, we could get a Citroen with a lot of effort and it was equally awful, the car was like a bus and it was terrible to park anywhere. And to finish the terrible experience, we got stuck in the snow because the car was sooo heavy and we couldn't do the trip we planned through the Apls on our own honey moon, that was really sad and I regret forever choosing AVIS. that showed no respect for the customer at all. "

We had booked ECONOMY (Ypsilon) we received a MINI (Fiat500) It had a huge dent over the hubcab (which was marked on the document) The petrol tank was only half full (for this we received a €30 credit when we returned the car - your colleague was very helpful regarding this) "

" When I reached the counter I had an idea there was something not quite right. The lady I was dealing with seemed to be having a problem with finding a car for me and asked her assistant to help. They then began asking me how far I would be traveling, if I had lots of luggage etc. The car I had ordered was supposed to be a compact petrol but I ended up with a Fiat Cubo Diesel, more like a van with seats than a car. I had specifically opted for a smaller car as I was traveling to villages with very narrow streets in some of the Italian towns. After about 200KM I began to get a warning on the dash about "ADBLUE", this was something I was not familiar with so I tried to call Avis in order to get assistance. I called consistently for over two hours and when the road side assistance number was not being answered I called Avis's main office in Italy who in turn gave e another number to call which turned out to be incorrect. I then called Auto Europe and they too tried to contact Avis but to no avail. I was in a bit of a situation as I was afraid to drive the vehicle in case I did damage to it. Eventually when I explained the situation to the Auto Europe Rep on the phone she suggested that I fill the tank with "ADBLUE" and keep pictures of the warning on the dash and receipts from the purchase for AVIS. This is what I did and I explained what had happened to the AVIS Desk in the airport in Bergamo. They told me they would be unable to refund it and that it should appear on my card within 15 days, that remains to be seen. My real issue is in the event of a roadside accident it seems I would not be able to contact Avis. "

" When picking up the car the person behind the counter tried a number of times to sell me additional insurance cover, even though I had booked the highest level of cover in order to prevent this occurring. The attendant was very pleasant and it was clear to me that this was avis policy. . When picking up the car there was some damage to the rear left and this was recorded on the rental agreement. I photographed this damage With my phone. There was no damage caused to the car during my rental period. When returning the car the staff member .attempted to deny the damage was pre-existing until I produced the photo at which stage it was immediately accepted as pre-existing. To me it was clear that this was again a company policy, aimed at defrauding me or my insurers. I found Avis to be fundamentally dishonest in my dealings with it. "

" Our experience was a nightmare. We arrived at the counter to be told there was no car for us. Initially they tried to say we were late but we had signed in when we got to the car hire office which proved we had been waiting an hour to get to the top of the queue and so they then said the car had been returned faulty and there was no other car for us. After four hours and a lot of discussion we finally got a car. We then discovered that two of the cars seat belts were not working and when we pointed this out to the manager he informed us that it was not a legal requirement to wear seat belts in the back of the car. Apart from the issue of safety this information is incorrect but when we pointed this out to him he then said he was under no obligation to give us a car he could just say there was no car and refund our money. He then asked us to take the car and he would telephone us later that day and arrange to give us another car the next day. He refused to have another car delivered to our accommodation and we would have to drive an hour to another rental office. We felt we had no choice but to agree to this compromise as we were all exhausted at this stage and just wanted to get moving. We never heard from the manager that day or any other day for the three weeks we were in Italy. We had booked a nine seater and essentially had a seven seater for our entire holiday. Three adults had to share the front seat which was very uncomfortable as it wasn't really meant for three adults. I'm sure you can imagine what a nightmare the four hour wait was for all of us and as we had three children in our group ages 6yrs, 3yrs, and 9 months this was so much worse. We have hired cars so many times in the past and have never had such a dreadful experience. We have never been told there was no car for us on arrival, surely this is the exact reason a person books a car and doesn't just arrive at the desk and hope one will be there. I await your response. We booked a Volvo V60 estate automatic and were offered a Seat Leon and then we were told that we could upgrade to an Audi A3 manual. We had no choice but to accept. My wife doesn't drive manual so I had to do all the driving. The heat in the airport was unbearable with no adequate waiting area meant that I was defeated before I arrived at the desk. To top it off Avis had removed the navigation Sim and asked us to pay €30 a day to hire a sat nav. The info in the car was also affected according to the message that came up on the screen and this was a relatively new car. All in all I would recommend people to avid Avis. "
