" When I picked up car I wasn't familiar with petrol dials on display and only realised on leaving the airport that the petrol tank was less than half full. On arrival at our destination I tried to refill the car but the petrol hatch was malfunctioning and wouldn't open ( which may explain why the petrol was half empty on pick up). I tried the help line with auto Europe but when they put me through to Avis it rang out. I had to bring the car to a local Renault dealer 3 times during my holiday which they very kindly fixed as the car was still under Renault warranty. I filled the car with petrol for drop off and explained to the drop off attendant what happened but understandably there was little they could do other than telling me to write and email. "

Not the same car! which was not very powerful in the hills and heavy on petrol: 7 to 8 L/100km. Beside, the car was an Italian reg and the whole radio/ Gps system was in Italian! I was never told this at the counter! I also felt compelled to take a further 300 euro insurance to avoid the 1500 euro deposit I would have had to leave to rent this car. I really feel the whole process is a rip off! So no I am not happy at all with my renting experience with Avis and yourselves! "

The collection point was very difficult to find, as it was underground and therefore easily detected with SatNav. When I finally found it after a couple of failed attempts,. " I have rented cars from Autoeurope on many occasions for many years & have always been happy with price & car. On this occasion there seems to be a lack of coordination between staff regarding information given to clients. & I didn't find a friendly atmosphere in the office. "

As this was a new regulation in France from beginning of July I feel foreigners renting cars should have been told or at least a sign on the wall of the shop. I was also asked to produce the credit card docket re guarantee which I had not been informed about on collection of car When I returned the car I was asked by the younger female assistant for the receipts mentioned above which I didn't have as I had not been told about them by the older female assistant, sitting next to her. I had been told on collection that I could leave the car where I got it or in the Avis garage nearby. I returned car to Avis garage & was told by younger female assistant after she checked the car that I should have left car outside not inside garage. It is obvious that both women don't give the same information to clients. "

" When we arrived we were waiting 1hr 30 minutes trying to get our car, we had booked a 9 person van, we were given the keys to an estate car that had 5 full size seats and 2 kids fold away seats in the lugage area, which ment there would be no room for lugage if these seats were used. Avis then gave us 2 cars as it was agreed we could not fit in the car they were giving use, this ment 2 drivers, 2 fuel bills and 2 road toll bills not to mention splitting the group up. There were 2 other bookings next to us at the desk with the same problem but for them 2 cars was not an option as only 1 driver, AVIS must not have 9 seater vans so dont try book one with them, Europecar had thier car park next to AVIS car parkand they have five vans available "
