I am 100% certain that I did not cause any damage to the car. When I returned the car a week later, the Goldstar checker pointed out the already existing damage to the same right wheel rim. I told him that was there before, he took photos and moved on. He never informed me that I was going to be charged extra for it. I was therefore shocked when I got home to receive a fine of 360 euro for damage to the "Right Rear Wheel Rim" that will be taken off my credit card. The damage report stated "Rear Right Wheel Rim damage" and again "Rear right rim". The email sent to me was a "No Reply" e mail, so I am desperately trying to find an email address for Goldstar where I can appeal the fine. It was only later when I checked reviews of Goldstar that I discovered that other people had also complained about being charged by Goldstar for pre-existing damage. I am a very honest person. If i damage a vehicle I admit it and pay up. However, this is different. I am absolutely certain that I did not cause any additional damage to the vehicle concerned. Goldcar representatives on the phone were not at all helpful, and said that I would need to present in person at their offices in order to extend the rental period. This meant I had to do a 6 hour round trip to Nice in order to add two days to the rental period. It was an extremely stressful experience for me, not to mention inconvenient and upsetting for our small children, as well as a waste of a full day of our trip. " I got caught for the excess insurance by Goldcar despite having paid Auto Europe, I advised that I had paid and they said that I had not. They took the petrol deposit at the end despite having cleared it was full with the return agent, and then came back and declared an error and would refund, they did not refund the full amount and I had to email saying I would do a charge back with Visa if I did not receive the full refund, they are trying to resolve now. Sharp practice and are known for it online. I would appreciate if Auto Europe took up the excess issue with Goldcar "

" Our flight was 45 minutes late landing at 20.15. The Goldcar office closed from 20.00 hrs. Tried calling Goldcar and Auto Europe - neither provided a service at that time. I had to book another car with a different provider. I returned at 8am next morning as soon as Goldcar opened. They would not honour the booking but offered me a new rental for an additional €350 even though I had already paid for my previous booking. No mention of a refund. Gold Car said it was the only car they had and said that the agent promised us that car but they didn't have it. We have used auto Europe in the past and been happy but overall we had a very bad experience in Marseilles this year. "

" Up until 1 hour ago, I was really impressed with the Goldcar experience; fast check-out; great (new) car; fast check in. Then, today I saw an email from Gold car with an invoice for "Major Cleaning" which came to €150. The only cleaning that was required was to vacuum some sand from the floors and boot area. We consumed no food or drink in the car. There was no soiling of any kind - just some sand, as one might expect, from the Cote d'Azur!! As there had been an accident on the motorway on Thurs evening on our journey to Nice airport, we just had time to refuel but not to vacuum (which would have taken us maybe 10 minutes). The drop off was unattended and so there was no discussion about this. Just a bill. €150 was a completely excessive charge for what needed to be done and for that reason, unless something can be done to provide me with a full or partial credit, I will avoid Goldcar in future and advise my friends and colleagues to do likewise.
