" I think I was short changed for the prepaid fuel option. I didn't know that I was being offered to prepay for the fuel as it was extremely hard to understand the assistant who handled my rental. I only found this out when she gave me the documents on which I saw that my card was being charged for $44.03 for the fuel. This I guess was a flat charge without considering the fuel tank capacity of the car. I rented a car that had a fuel capacity of only 12.5 gallons for which the fuel price (if I refuelled it) would have been $30, so I was charged a whopping 50% more, which I believe wasn't fair. "

It may well be that she was working on commission but the whole tone of the conversation changed when I was unwilling to pay the extras. "

" Staff at Logan airport were excellent,upgraded the car without being asked, we returned the car forgetting to fill up with petrol and the agent directed me out through the staff exit to go and fill up so I wouldn't be charged.Only issue was the number plate recognition for toll roads doesn't work everywhere so we had to pay a number of tolls in cash having already paid the compulsory daily toll charge, this was reimbursed by the agent on return but is a glitch in the system "

(I have had similar issues before, even booking direct with Dollar) Had I not stood my ground they were trying to claim additional fees. I also paid recovery breakdown fees until a returned with more time and a clear head (Not just of a 24 hour journey with two flights) and got agreement for a refund. They don't like the agreements. e.g there is nothing for them to sell, I'd guess they have targets and paid bonus on add on sales, and nothing in the deal for them personally. This leaves me feeling I,m a nuisance for them to deal with. resulting in poor customer service of not wanting to deal with me. "

" I found Thrifty the worst company I have used and I have been travelling to USA for over 16 years. No staff walked around vehicle with me at beginning. I was at fault for not checking. The vehicle had not been cleaned. Mirror cover on drivers side missing and large scrape on passenger side front bumper. I rang Thrifty on arrival at my destination. They said no problem this would be noted on my hire details. On arrival back at Seatac I was greeted by a very confrontational woman checking car. I explained that I had rung Thrifty as soon adI had noted the problems. She said Thrifty were lying when I was told that they would note it as she had no record. I will NEVER use Thrifty again. I would advise Auto Europe the same. "

" The assistant at Thrifty's office in LAX was far from offering any advice to us. In fact he tried to force us to take out 3 weeks cover for Toll roads which amounted to around $180...he forgot to mention that toll roads are few and far between and that you can also avoid them. Furthermore he had Premium Road Service included in our bill until I questioned it. He then said that it was up to us but if we lost car keys we would have to pay extra etc...my point is appeared he was trying to sell everything and not explain anything only for us questioning him. Also as non Americans I was surprised that nobody from Thrifty was on hand to give any assistance to us prior to driving off in the car..i.e. remember to drive on the Righ side of road "

According to the agent , the manager was absent , and she had no idea when he would return, and no idea when a premium car would become available. Can you do anything to restore your own reputation?
