" When I went to the National car rental officeI had asked for a compact car.I also rented a GPS system. There were 2 people behind the counter and I was the only customer. I was told to go and take a compact car from the parking lot. However the cars were locked and I had to return to the office to inform the people. When I did get into a car I found the GPS system was in German . It took one of the workers awhile to get it to english. Even the date was not correct in the car it was dated 2021..... I rent cars a few times a year and mainly in England and always with Auto Europe and I do not usually have a problem but this time I was not happy with the service. "

" The staff we encountered were very friendly and professional. The car we rented however had very little grip on its tyres and so became dangerous to drive. We returned the car and got a different car and were very satisfied with that one. Bald tyres on a sports car is unacceptable and especially a rear wheel drive one. There were GPS onboard both vehicles but we were told there wasn't and to rent a GPS. We used the onboard GPS on both vehicles and not the rented one. We could have saved ourselves some money and hassle. "

" Overall, I have a very positive experience with AutoEurope. However, during this trip I was confronted by a bit of an uncertainty when approaching the National desk in SFO: Although the insurance stated "Extended Cover" on the AutoEurope page when I booked it (including CDW including damage to wheels, glass, underside, roof of vehicle with zero access), the NATIONAL agent said it was only for basic insurance and I would have to buy an extra "full coverage" if I wanted those items stated during booking). I've had concerns regarding insurance in the past as well, as there often seems to be a difference between what is shown during booking, what is stated on the voucher and what is acknowledged by the rental company. More consistency needed! "
" The National agent was quite dismissive regarding my insurance concerns and didn't seem to care at all about the issue at hand (as stated above). I ended up going with the existing "basic" coverage, in the hopes that AutoEurope would take it up with National, should there be any damage falling under the extra cover. This was quite a negative experience, but the rest of their staff's helpfulness somewhat made up for this (they accommodated my AWD request and at the end helped me locate a missing item), hence the semi-satisfied rating. "
