When I tried to get through to customer service after numerous attempts, she told me that it was part of the price or tolls. " Unfortunately the counter staff were very unhelpful, rude, very bad service overall. I was given a smaller car than I had booked. I was not allowed to go with the option that i had booked online, as sales staff at counter would not allow it. I was ONLY allowed to sign off if I accepted the highest possible EXTRA insurance option, or I was not allowed to have my booking as offered through your online website portal. Your company are liers, you have falsely advertised a product which customers are forced to change at the last minute at the desk. For an off-season booking, this has ended up costing 10 times more than high season. I hope your sakes staff are satisfied that they have lost a lot of customers due to 1 little gain fir your employee to sabotage your service. " I had booked a manual car to hire We received a automatic car instead When we received the car the counter staff was a bit pushy with explaining the costs Unfortunately because of the 2/3 issues I had a accident within 5 minutes of hiring the car ( which I believe I wasn't fully at fault but definitely thought their was some issue with the car But been fully insured and collecting the new car the staff were excellent and had no issues from them on with the car hire Bringing the car back the staff were extremely friendly and helpful "

They said everything was perfect when I returned the car so this is unacceptable and annoying having to now chase a refund. " We picked up car we booked and packed all our luggage and 2 kids in which took some time. Then when we turned on the engine ready to go I noticed a service light on the dashboard was lit up. I straight away mentioned this to Europcar staff. They were very sorry and had to give us a different car, a class up I think. This was very inconvenient with 2 small kids to unpack all and repack new car but anyway, we managed. Everything was fine with this car for duration. Returned car on time with full tank. Car was checked by Europcar member. He said everything was good and I signed out same. All good. Until 2 days later I have noticed Europcar have taken €130.99 from my credit card. No email or notice as to what this is for so I am currently trying to find this out from Europcar. I was the perfect customer so this is very frustrating. No wonder car rental companies get a bad name. "

" cheap and they don't rip you off with damage profiteering: but irritating when they try to sell you the tank of fuel for 88EUR and that is the same price as from a petrol station but if you use more than a tank you'll find out it costs less than 60EUR. Tip: don't lie to a customer because they may automatically think you are a scumbag. The car was handed over with a flat tire warning, I had wasted enough time waiting around so I drove away and filled the tyres when I first filled the tank. then as I drove away from the petrol station the less than 1000km oil service warning went off. I checked the oil level and it was OK. So I was driving past the Europcar pick up point the next day and pulled in to warn them that the car needed a service and that if they don't change the car I will be bringing it back 500km past its service interval. they told me it was OK, I thanked them and took the name of the manager that OK'd me driving away. I would still go back and use them again because they are almost as cheap as Goldcar, without the awful reputation. "

I was assured on collection the the presence of an orange 'wheel' symbol on the dashboard was of no significance having been checked by the service staff!! After 26 days and a mere 719Km (looking carefully at the tyres every day), the right front tyre had a blow-our at a very dangerous point on the A8 while driving back to Lisbon Airport for my return flight. The fuel was half full but I have yet to receive confirmation that the remainder of my €300.00 deposit has been unblocked. "

" I have booked with Europcar before. this time I booked a Renault megane estate. when I got to the counter the staff said they had a Kia sportage but did not think it would be big enough for our luggage and recommended a Renault Kadjar instead ( 140euro more) they also said it was automatic. I did not know then but the Kia sportage has the same size boot and would have worked for us at no extra charge. Also when we picked up the car it was not automatic but at that stage it had taken so long I did not feel able to go back to the desk. I was disappointed with this. Also there were a lot of extra scratches on the car that I had to point out to the attendant that were not listed on the paperwork. The Kia would have been fine. I have Used Europcar before and been happy with the service and am disappointed this time. "

" Europcar in Faro are excellent, efficient, courteous and very helpful. We used their frequent renter service which meant our documents were ready in advance. Our car was of very good quality and we found dropping the car back to the main depot and using the courtesy bus to the airport departures area very handy. We will continue to use them in preference to any other company when in Faro. "
