    Driving information Egypt

    General Information
Egypt is an exotic country that offers archaeological treasures as well as a bustling city life in the capital of Cairo. Rent a car in Egypt and visit the Pyramids in Giza or enjoy the sun and the beaches by the Red Sea Coast.

    Requirements
To rent a car, you must be at least 25 years old and maximum 60 years old (age can vary by car category) and have held your driver's license for at least 2 years. An international driver’s license is also mandatory.

    Speed Limits
    Speed limits in Egypt are:

    • Open Roads: 90 km/h
    • Motorways: 100 km/h

    Traffic restrictions
In Egypt you drive on the right side of the road. Always remember to take it extremely easy and avoid driving in the city centre. The local drivers are infamous for their reckless way of driving. Be aware of drivers honking the horn. In most cases they use the horn simply to greet each another.

    Petrol
Many petrol stations open 08:00 to 20:00. Be sure to refill your rental car before leaving a city.

    Tolls
There are a few roads that require a toll. The route between Cairo and Alexandria is one example.

    Parking
It is possible to park your car on the street. We, however, strongly recommend that you use a secure parking area. Most hotels and shops provide secure parking.

    Insurance Information

    General Information
Car rental insurance varies widely, so please study the information below prior to making your booking. Regulations of the country where you rent the car will be in effect for the duration of your rental.

All our car hire rates include Collision Damage coverage and Theft Protection for the vehicle. Rental limits potential vehicle damage or loss liability to an excess, which is stated on your voucher. If you plan to take advantage of coverage offered by your credit card, please contact your card issuer directly for details. Specific insurance information for your reservation will be printed on your confirmation voucher.

    Rental Restrictions

    General Information
Most car categories can be driven within Western Europe, United Kingdom, Northern Ireland and Ireland. If you wish to drive abroad (outside Sweden) you need to purchase additional coverage. Please note that you may not take your rental car on a ferry. Due to insurance regulations, there are restrictions on luxury car categories and on travel in certain countries. Please take a moment to ensure that your intended itinerary will be possible with the car you plan to book. If you plan on driving abroad during the winter please note that because Swedish cars are equipped with spiked snow tires you are not allowed to travel abroad.

    Restricted Countries
With a rental car in Egypt you may not take your car abroad or on any ferry. Domestic one-way rentals are available between certain locations, additional fees may apply. International one ways are not allowed.
