" I've rented Dodge Ram but got Chevy Silverado. Which is in the same class, but cheaper pickup truck. It took quite a while for overwhelmingly relaxed lady in the car lot to finally put an effort and find the truck available. It had some decent wear and tear and lousy repairs as there was nearly 70K miles on it. Although mechanically it worked just fine. But the most ridiculous things is that my rental period was 2 weeks but Dollar gave me car with 7% oil life and empty washer fluid tank :) And it was all dusty, but that I could understand as there was a sand storm in Vegas that night. " First the positive: the vehicle we received was brand new. That was very nice. Now the bad: - there were no mid-size SUVs available, so we had to chose from several other types of vehicles. - the counter-staff misrepresented two things during pick-up. First, despite explicitly being told that we did not want additional insurance, he added a premium road assistance service. Thankfully, Dollar agreed to remove this later on, which saved the situation a bit. Second, the counter-staff did not explain properly the various fuel options - he rather suggested that Dollar has an amazing deal where we can just return the car and they will fill it up at a great rate. Reading the contract later on, it turned out that this is a standard Fuel Purchase Option which costs more for the customer than refuelling on your own. So overall, my impression was that the staff was eager to take advantage of customers arriving after very long flights and entry procedures. This of course led me to a feeling that I would not want to use that service again. "

" I had to cancel my car hire the day after I arrived in Fort Lauderdale as I was sick on my journey there and I was put on medication that can cause drowsiness and recommends not to drive. I contacted Dollar rent a car to cancel the car hire and they told me there would be no charge and to email euroxml@autoeurope.ie and I was shocked by the response I got from Yao Mawuena Anoumou Reservation agent, about the policy of the company and I was not entitled to a refund where I was thinking of the safety of other people by not driving. When you visit America you do need a car to get around and because of my illness I had to hire a Taxi to get to places which ended up very expensive. "

" Original vehicle was in very poor condition. Dirty and full of scrapes and dents. Dropped it back following phone call the following day. No apologies from counter staff. No upgrade offered. Had to refill car prior to dropping back despite its poor condition, which is when I discovered it hadn't been filled as it cost $12.50 to top it up despite driving it less than 20 miles!! Add to this the time wasted as well as $10 in tolls and you can see my dissatisfaction. I'm a frequent Autoeurope user and very surprised by the quality of the Dollar vehicle. Yes, I did choose it myself but impossible to check in dark parking garage and not informed of the poor condition of the SUV by Dollar staff once chosen. By way of recompense, Dollar allowed us to return the car with an empty fuel tank without a refuelling charge - we had booked Full to Full return. It was somewhat of a nuisance as I had confirmed the rental a week or so prior to the rental so I'm not sure why the car we requested was not available. The rep said the three previous customers had not got one either! The Sat Nav was not a proper sat nav - it was a GPS tablet type device licensed to Dollar with ads. It did not show alternative routes etc. Apart from the lack of chosen car it was an acceptable transaction. "

The reason I was to get a refund was for a full tank of gasoline to be left back empty/with any amount of gas. I had to take this car or drive around other Dollar locations to see if they had an SUV. After arriving in Santa Monica in a cramped vehicle, I had to drive to LAX to swap the car. All they would give me was a Cherokee which again was not as big as the car I ordered. I subsequently found out the car was faulty. The front passenger seat was stuck and could not be adjusted. The SAT NAV was terrible. After I swapped vehicles the device stopped working mid journey because it had not been transferred over to my new rental and I had spend time and money calling Dollar to reinstate the Sat NAV to my new vehicle. " We booked a standard SUV advertised as a Jeep Grand Cherokee on the website. We ended up with a Jeep Cherokee which is much smaller than the model published. The boot would hardly accept 2 big suit cases plus 2 smaller ones. It is no acceptable. We got a Ford Explorer a few years ago from the same category. Things have changed dramatically. In addition the staff tries to sell you many options and services like filling the tank for you when returning the car. It is a trap. They do that until you leave the car park. "

To find out at the end was per day Would u like to drop back empty $60 on ask what's the cost to fill the car no answer was given.$30 was the cost to fill it. 150 for a toll pass to do me over the 16 days I was told this was the best way to do this as if I was driving around Orlando on a daily basis I would need it... I said no as was very expensive tolls cost me max $20 on a pay as u go sun pass. The customer beside me was asked for $313 for her husband to go on the 2nd driver All dollar wanted was more of ur dollars sales staff very good at selling there extras that u dont need And the extra insurance omg what a joke "

The Agent asked if we wanted the Automated Toll Pass activated in the car at a flat rate of $10.49 a day. We said no but she told us that "there is a new law in Florida which means all Tolls are automated - no facility to pay by cash or card". We found this hard to believe but she said that basically the only alternative to the Eazy Pass system is to "avoid all toll roads". THIS WAS A COMPLETE LIE. We ended up being charged $73.47 for tolls and reckon at most we would have paid under $20 in tolls for the entire trip as we did not use the car every day. "
