It’s important to note that certain exclusions apply, as most Zero Excess products usually cover body-work only. Options are available to include super cover/extended cover to your policy at an additional cost which would cover you for tyres, roof, undercarriage and glass.     How does zero excess coverage work for a car hire in the USA?

Your hire car would be covered with the normal benefits of the Zero Excess product but also provides reimbursement for the following:

    • Credit card fees (maximum limit of €150)

    • Vehicle immobilisation fee
    • Unused rental days relating to medical emergency, accident or vehicle damage

    What if I have an accident or the vehicle is stolen?

    What to do in the event of accident?In an unfortunate event you are involved in an accident, your vehicle is stolen or it has sustained damage without your prior knowledge - Auto Europe is on hand to offer you reassurance and full guidance. In any case we kindly ask you to follow the below steps:

    • Contact the local police:
      It is imperative in all cases to immediately report the incident to the police and obtain a copy of the police report. If your vehicle was involved in an accident with a third party, you are required to obtain a completed police report with the details of the third party involved.
    • Contact your car hire provider:
      You are required to contact your car hire provider within twenty-four hours of the incident. Contact details can be found on your rental agreement or Auto Europe voucher.
    • Take photographic evidence or video footage:
      If possible, please take photos and/or record the damage with a video enabled device as evidence. This will help expedite your claim.
    • Complete accident report:
      Once your hire period has ended, you will be required to complete in full an accident report as provided at the rental desk. This report must be signed by you and the supplier.

    What if the supplier insists I purchase additional coverage at the time of collection?

    Generally speaking, car rental employees are highly skilled in offering additional products and services to their customers. One of the product you maybe more familiar with would be insurance coverage. In most cases the products and services offered are usually optional. In any case, if you are offered coverage to reduce your excess to zero at the time of collection then you are not obliged to accept this type of coverage, your booking made with Auto Europe would in most cases already include this type of cover.

    However, more than likely you would be offered additional coverage that normally would not be included with basic supplier coverage. Again we would like to reiterate that these types of coverage are also optional and it is entirely up to you to accept or decline the additional coverage.
