What do I need to know about hiring a car during the coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis?
Despite the travel restrictions that have been imposed due to the current situation, you can still hire a car with Auto Europe and take advantage of exceptionally low prices. I've booked a car hire with Auto Europe. Where can I find the rental desk at the pick-up location?
Auto Europe is a broker that works with different local car hire companies. We do not own a vehicle fleet, cars are provided by our local partners. This is why you will not find any Auto Europe office at your travel destination. To pick up your rental car, please proceed to the rental desk specified on your voucher issued from Auto Europe.
How old do I have to be to hire a car?
You must be at least 21 years old to hire a car in most countries (age requirements may vary by the supplier). Drivers younger than 26 may be requested to pay an additional young driver fee. This information is on our booking engine as well as on your voucher.
Do I need a credit card to hire a car?
Yes, a credit card is required to pick up your car hire, even though you used a debit card to book the car online. Rental companies require the credit card in the name of the main driver to block a security deposit. Debit cards, pre-paid cars or cash are not accepted locally.
What exactly is the deposit?
Deposit is an amount of money blocked on the main driver's credit card as a security bond. The deposit is returned to the driver when the car is returned in the same condition as picked up.
What does Refundable Excess with Super Cover mean?
Auto Europe offers a Refundable Excess with Super Cover option. This package includes tyres, glass etc. Upon pick-up time, the main driver leaves a deposit. In case of damage or theft of the vehicle, the customer is required to pay the repair costs to the car rental company. Afterwards, they may submit a refund request for these costs to Auto Europe. What documents do I need at the time of collection?
You are requested to present your driving licence, credit card, an ID and a printed version of Auto Europe voucher. Debit, prepaid credit cards and cash are not accepted locally as a form of deposit.
