Tripping around the island of Menorca

If you are looking for some Mediterranean sun, then Menorca should definitely be on your short list of places to go to this winter. Part of the Balearic Islands, Menorca has long been a favourite holiday hotspot for those who wish to relax and sight-see. The island is not well known for its nightlife; its neighbours Majorca and Ibiza alone have enough nightlife action for the Balearics!

With low cost airlines flying from Ireland over to Menorca, the best place to pick up a car hire in Menorca is at the airport. When you have chosen which resort you wish to stay at you can head straight for your accommodation, and the best thing about this island is that it is not too large in size, making it easy to get around.

Along the south coast you will find Cala en Porter, which has everything you could possible want and need from a tourist resort: great shops, fine dining and, most importantly, a fantastic beach! The beach is protected from winds by high cliffs and there are also plenty of places where you can park up your hire car.

The capital Mahon is home to the busiest harbour on the island, plus it is the soundest deepest harbour in the world! Although the city has a modern feel to it, it is home to some great museums and has recently had some interesting historic buildings restored. Venture a little off the beaten path and head inland. If you can manage the walk up El Toro, the tallest hill in Menorca, you will be rewarded with 360º stunning views!

Make the most of your island holiday and book a car hire in Spain; it may be the only chance of sunshine you will get!
