    Top tourist picks in Austria

Austria is a particularly popular destination in the colder months, being a gorgeous winter wonderland full of steep slopes and stunning snow-covered landscapes. But that is no reason why this fabulous country should be snubbed in the summer.

More than a simple winter playground, Austria is year-round refined, elegant, staggering and all-around lovely. Pick up a car hire in Vienna Airport and set off to explore the country! Here are a few things you can’t miss!

1). Schönbrunn Palace – This is one of the most visited attractions in the city, with over 2 million visits every year. This former imperial residence built in the Rococo style is surrounded by lush manicured gardens, an orangery, several statues, and even a Roman Ruin! While it doesn’t really comprise roman remains, this picturesque set of 18th century follies is a must-see!

2). Tiergarten Schönbrunn – Also known as Vienna Zoo, this charming zoo on the grounds of Schönbrunn Palace is the oldest is the world, having been founded in 1752. While the zoo has been modernized over the years, it still preserves much of its original baroque buildings. Tiergarten is also one of the few zoos in the world to house giant pandas!

3). Old Town of Salzburg – Drive your car hire to Salzburg and spend some time exploring its fascinating Old Town, declared a World Heritage Site in 1997. The diverse architectural styles of the town will delight visitors, which will also be greeted by the picturesque sights of the Fortress, perched on top of the lovely Mönchsberg.
