6 refreshing cocktails to enjoy on your summer holiday

If you had to guess the average amount of drinks consumed during a two-week holiday, what would you say? Ten? Thirty? The latest polls, sponsored by Auto Europe, show that Europeans, on average, consume around 44 alcoholic drinks while enjoying their time away from work. The study reveals that Swedish take the lead at almost 70 glasses of wine, beer or spirits, while Italians come after, with 45 glasses. Holidays are the best time of the year to settle down, have a delicious meal and unwind with a refreshing cocktail. Therefore, these results are not surprising. Those looking to spruce up their bartender skills and impress friends and family with new recipes won't be disappointed. Our suggestions vary from classic drinks with a twist to exotic cocktails. Treat your taste buds to an explosion of flavour and enjoy responsibly!

    1 The Lychee Refreshing Cocktail:

This Asian flair martini is made with 2 shots of Vodka, 2 shots of lychee juice, 1 shot of Vermouth and ice cubes shaken for 15-20 seconds. Don't forget to garnish the glass with lychees. And for extra points in beauty, add an Orchid flower. This drink is not only delicious, but also a nice variation from the regular staples - wine and beer.

2 Espresso Liqueur from the Islands:

For this pick-me up drink, combine ice cubes, 1/2 shot of coffee liqueur, 1 shot of coconut liqueur and 1 shot of dark rum on the cocktail shaker. Add a pinch of ground nutmeg and vanilla extract to taste, garnishing with coffee beans. This will treat your taste buds to an explosion of sweetness, contrasting with the bitterness of the coffee. Cheers!

    3 Blackberry Margarita:

According to the same study, Europeans complain at least 8 times of being too hot while on holidays. Therefore, we bring you the perfect drink to cool down - the Blackberry Margarita. Damp the rim of the Martini glass with water and dip it in salt. Pour into the shaker 1 shot of blackberry juice, 1 shot of Tequila, 1 shot of Triple Sec and lime juice. Add the ice cubes and shake it. Strain this refreshing cocktail into the glass and enjoy!

4 Cuba Libre With a Twist:

This refreshing cocktail is simple and tasty. Slice the lime in half and squeeze the juice into the glass. Add a few ice cubes, 2 shots of light rum, cola and top of with pomegranate juice to taste. Stir the drink with a straw or spoon and add a wedge of lime and pomegranate seeds to the glass.

    5 Watermelon Punch:

This drink takes a bit longer to prepare, but it's worth it. Start by cutting a lid from the top of the watermelon and scooping out the fruit. Save the pulp for the watermelon puree. Use the watermelon as a serving bowl. Strain the pureed watermelon chunks, stir in with gin and just a shot of mint liqueur. Let it chill for a couple of hours. Don't forget to add the scrumptious sparkling rosé before serving. Garnish with lime wedges and have fun! Additionally, by replacing the alcoholic beverages with iced tea or lime soda, this punch instantly turns into a kid-friendly favourite.
