Out and About in Southern Turkey

Out of ideas about where to go on the next half-term break? You’ll be surprised by the bargains you can find at this time of year, memorable destinations at quite an affordable reach!

Take Turkey, for instance. As the high summer temperatures begin to fade, the country is still able to offer incredible accommodation and activities for the whole family to enjoy under the best mild Autumn climate.

Mugla province, located by the Mediterranean coast, comes as a good half-term option, specially so if you consider booking a car hire in Turkey to better explore the region. Even in mid-October, the coastline has many child-friendly beaches and can provide the best conditions to make the most of any kind of water sports, if that may be to your fancy, not forgetting the adorable villages you can discover by driving inland.

Head with your hire car to Bodrum, where from an array of experiences you can choose taking the kids for a boat ride around Bodrum bay: the options range from hiring your own or going on a boat tour. And why not give a try to the haman, the traditional Turkish bath, or if you feel like getting dirty, nothing does it better than a visit to the mud baths!

Only about 3 hours away lies another location interesting to add to any Turkish itinerary: driving a car hire in Izmir will make you understand why. After Instanbul, Izmir is the second biggest port in the country and probably a considerable detour from the relaxing atmosphere you had found in Bodrum.

If interested in venturing on longer road trips and there is time to spare, don’t miss the chance to explore Antalya or tour a number of ruined cities from ancient Lycia. The weather invites all kinds of play so, this half-term, take on Turkey as your favourite playground and you surely won’t regret it!
