Tampa’s city buildings are a delight; the University of Tampa was once a former hotel and has dedicated one wing to the Henry B Plant Museum. The deco has been kept in the theme of the 1800s and you can wander through the perfectly restored dining room, parlor suite and a solarium. The Tampa Theatre has a beautiful courtyard which includes balconies as well as Roman and Greek designed sculptures.
Drive out to Florida’s sun-drenched coastline where you can visit the Lighthouse Park Point. The parks original lighthouse was a wooden one and has since been replaced by the brick one that now towers over the ocean. The park is a great spot to take in nature, with song birds and birds of prey flying the coastline daily. Pack a picnic to this lovely park and enjoy lunch in the gardens or by the pier.

It’s a good spot to try your hand at all water sports, including, fishing and kayaking. There are also some great walking trails that will take you from the sand dunes to pine forests.
