    Cruising along Route 66

Possibly the world’s most famous road, Route 66 runs more or less the full width of the USA! The route has gathered up somewhat of a cult following over the years and it even has its very own reunion, held annually. This year is the 22nd and is happening right now!

One thing that the USA is good at is creating dreams! Just close your eyes and imagine: flash convertible car, wind blowing through your hair, Brad Pitt behind the wheel… well we did say a dream! Ok so we can’t help you with Brad Pitt, but what we can do is book you a car hire in LA, a great place to start your Route 66 adventure!

Cruising through the amazing towns and through the different states you will find no shortage of great places to stop off at. Mojave Desert Heritage & Cultural Association in California teaches you about the sacred lands and their history. Arizona is where you can explore the eerie Grand Canyon Caverns; Santa Rosa in New Mexico has a Route 66 Auto Museum that is worth checking out.

Drive your USA car hire through the dusty landscape of Texas and drive by the Cadillac Ranch; said to have been created by the art hippies of San Francisco, you will see Cadillac’s colourfully decorated and placed in the sand. The next state on the journey is Oklahoma and here you have lots of attractions to choose from. Since you are heading across the country and are probably limited for time, we recommend visiting the Blue Whale; it’s huge and it’s blue and it’s a whale, fantastic!

If you run out of gas in Kansas, don’t fear! You can fill up on at the old Kan-O-Tex service station, also known as the Four Women on the Route. This unusual name came about as four local women brought the area around the station back to life and they hope to build 4 new buildings close to the intersection, growing the area even more! Head for the 66 Drive-in at Missouri, a perfect place to turn the engine off, giving yourself and the car a well-earned rest!

The last stop on our Route 66 itinerary has to be the Illinois Route 66 Hall of Fame and Museum, everything you didn’t find out along the way will be in the museum and you can also learn how the USA preserve the world-famous route and any future plans for it they may have!

Wow, what a journey! Have you been lucky enough to drive the Route 66, any recommended places to stop in at?
