    Best European Après Ski

The European ski season is just a snowball throw away and for anyone who has a love for the sport it is very likely that they have a love for Après Ski as well.

So what is Après Ski all about? In short, it’s a night of rewards after those long days out on the slopes; skiing or snowboarding isn’t a restful holiday. You will spend all day working those muscles out on the slopes and all evening walking the different bars of your ski resort.

The resort of Val d’Isere in France is a famous party town that attracts snow fans year after year. Aside from the wide choice of ski runs for all levels, it has a vibrant nightlife and is home to the oldest disco in the Alpes. Dicks Tea Bar first opened its dance floor in 1979 by Dick Yate-Smith and has been a hotspot ever since.

Tignes in France has a good mix of more traditional Après Ski bars that consist of wide screen TV’s and draft beer, and those bars that serve exotic cocktails or have a wine list. 2014 sees the qualifiers for the Freeride World Tour come to Tignes in February; it’s an event open to all keen freerider’s, but you must register to take part.

Apres Ski fans should also think about skiing in St Anton, Austria. The resort has one main high street and this is where you will find its bars and clubs. There are also a few bars close to the slopes, however, these bars are closed at an earlier time to avoid accidents. We are sure there are a few stories that brought this rule about, but we wouldn’t have enough space to blog about it!

Did you know that the resort of Livigno in Italy not only has fantastic snow, excellent Apres Ski, but is also tax free! Now that’s reason alone to head for the Italian slopes, but it is worth a mention that the resort did win ‘Best European Resort’ 2012’

Let us know if you have any favourite Apres Ski resorts, or if you planning on visiting any of our choices.
