An increasing tendancy for full CDW not to be available and an increased presence of companies like Rentscape(in Nantes) which have low customer rating. When I rent a car I do not want to have difficulties with a sector in the market who rent cheaply, use older less well maintained stock and are more likely to try and impose additional charges after rental. I chose based on overall value and reputation rather than price. "

" A continuing difficulty arises due to the lack of certainty around the size, standard and specification of vehicle that will be provided. Autoeurope as a broker should do more to ensure consistency by the rental companies as to the groups within which car models are classified. A rudimentary analysis shows that in the same locations, the same models of car are variously described as standard and intermediate and sometimes large and/or compact. This is important because no guarantee is provided as to the model - only that it will be "similar". But when there is no consistency in what should be discrete rental groupings, it leaves it completely open as to what the rental company considers "similar". This is important because of the often significant price differences across groupings. It makes for a very off-putting purchase decision and one which Autoeurope should be able to address with the rental companies. "

I had to forfeit the full 2 day rental payment to Auto Europe and also pay Thrifty/Hertz to rent the exact car that was booked for me already. Very dissapointing and inflexible customer service from Auto Europe when I called to explain and ask for my husband to be changed to named driver so we could show his credit card and collect the car. Also I had to pay for a phone call to Germany customer service from an Irish mobile because there is no Irish phone number provided for customers from Ireland. Very poor. I have used Auto Europe many times before but never had to contact customer service before and my experience has discouraged me from using/recommending Auto Europe again in case I end up in similar situation. " The rip off that was perpatrated by Dollar car hire upon the return of the vehicle, because of a 10 mm scratch on a wheel rim was nothing short of robbery. They charged €90 for damage assessment ( this was the returns person looking at the wheel for all of 15 seconds ) . Then he automatically assessed the damage at €350 , which would more than cover the cost of a new wheel . All the wheels on the vehicle had similar scratches of various lengths yet only one wheel was marked on the car outline form provided.I had heard of some cowboy operators ripping off customers in this manner but I did not expect a supposedly reputable company to behave in this manner. I was presented with a bill for 440 CHf for damages and I am sure that once the car was refreshed ( but unrepaired )it was given to another unsuspecting client . Also The vehicle was a four wheel drive , suitable for all terrain and weather conditions. "

" I booked and paid for a VW Golf or equivalent and the car we collected was an Audi A1 which was too small for 4 people plus luggage. We had to put luggage lying on top of the passengers in the rear seat. I drive a Golf normally and the size would have been perfect for our needs. Also, the car was not ready at 16.30 but rather about 45 minutes later. The time was not a major issue on it's own but with the car size problem all together it was a big disappointment. "

" The Auto Europe website was easy to use, the emails are clear and concise and overall the process was pretty smooth. However, it should have been explained that another company (Hertz) was actually supplying the car. "
" Dollar don't actually have a customer desk in Zurich airport and the Thrifty / Dollar branding is a bit confusing, so it was not clear where to go to collect the car. After a few enquiries, I discovered that the actual car was being supplied by Hertz and I dealt with their staff. "
