" Awful the category of car wasn't available the only option was a downgrade to a Fiat 500 which my 76 year old father had to climb into the backseat of. The staff member when asked how we can avoid this situation again advised "get an earlier flight" not acceptable. Requested to be refunded the difference for the downgrade. A smaller deposit was taken of 207 and I was assured 250 would be refunded on return. This did not happen and only 207 was refunded. Then contacted customer service to get the refund and they are after charging my card instead of refunding it so am now trying to contact them to refund this and the original refund. After returning the car, I was not provided with a statement of return despite calling them for it. 3 days later, I noticed a higher than expected charge on my card. Again, I had not received any invoice (which the Europcar agent said was sent to me). He shared that this was for an additional day of rental, and the licenses and fees associated with it. It was close to GBP 100! All for a 45 minutes earlier pick up that was informed would be free of charge. Additionally, instead of indicating that the pick up was at 12.45pm (the actual time when the keys were handed over), they had indicated that my pick up started at 12.20pm. Which is not what was indicated on the rental agreement. Never trust Europcar in the UK. "

" Hi Auto Europe, I have actually raised complaint to Europcar and I will probably raise a case for credit card fraud with my card provider. I have booked a car with you, and paid 211.23€ for a car and full cover. I have also asked for a child seat which was meant to be paid on the counter as an extra, all good. They have taken a deposit of 450 GBP and said that car seat will be charged 13 GBP per day, so 39 for three days, again all good. We have returned a car, it was inspected no issues. Today they have charged us 241.47 GBP from my card, 39 of which should be the child seat and the rest nobody knows what. We have paid the rent and full cover to AutoEurope and the guy at the counter didn't tell us anything about any hidden costs. After all if he told us we wouldn't take the car, no one with a brain would take Dacia Sendero for 2.5 days for 500€. "

" Dear Sir/Madam I have rented from Europcar and other car rental firms many times over the years. This is the first time I feel compelled to complain about a car rental. The car was a disgrace. It had so many bumps and scratches on the rental card, I found it difficult check all of them. When I suggested that I should not agree to take the car with all the damage I was told to just take photographs. Inside, the window switches were damaged and had sharp edges and the passenger window was scored right down the middle. It's difficult to understand how a car could have been trashed so. The floor covering was worn through under the pedals. I was shocked that a car would be supplied in such a condition by Europcar having had numerous successful rentals from them in the past in several countries. I would have thought that a car in such condition would have been removed from the pool. I trust this information will be acted on and that no other customer will be subjected to such treatment. We arrived at the desk on Thursday 16th March around 5.00pm from a flight from Knock Airport and were warmly greeted by a very kind & friendly man who took us through the whole process and put us at ease and got us the best car he could. We were then met at car pick up by an equally helpful man (J S was the signature on my statement) who also happened to be there when I dropped the car back on Monday morning around half ten and could not have been nicer to us. The car itself was spotless and a treat to drive. I was nervous about where I was to drop the car back to but it is all signed very well once you approach Gatwick. " I will never use Europcar in Manchester Airport again. A 1 hour wait for service is unacceptable at any price - if I knew in advance how long I'd have to wait I would have used another company. The very fact that there are "queue number machines" for Europcar customers (but not for any other company) in the car rental building suggests you know how bad these queues are and should have warned users in advance of purchase. " I felt the price was very high for a three day rental - but perhaps due to relatively late booking, so to ignore that I was still very unappy with the service. The pick up was appallingly slow - one person at desk but even allowing for this there were only two customers ahead of me and it took over half an hour, perhaps 3/4 hour - the guys in front were on the phone and I have no idea what was going on - and the second person was also slow. The woman at the desk was not particular friendly and not at all apologetic about the delay, whoch might have helped. I know that the works to the road and car parking at city airport were not the fault of europecar - but it took ages to find the car in the car park because no numbering system was in place - we hadn't been told the colour of the car - and we were not advised about the diversions which were particulary tricky when trying to return the car - teh person at the desk might have explained that knowing we would be back witht he car in 2.5 days "
