" I have been using autoeurope for more than a decade now even though recently they left me in the trouble despite having supercover. "

Car was extensively damaged around, smelly inside and half full tank. I was travelling only 80 miles returning the car whitin 24 hours. I was told taxi expenses would be counted for fuel but 32 punds would be 30 litres of fuel 3 times more I consumed. Still no refund of the balance was offered. Upon return noone picked up the phone so had to leave the car without haviong someone to cinfirm it was returned woth no damaged by me. NO transport was arranged for me upon drop off so first had to drive to the airport to get a cab following me to the drop off point and then take me back to airport. Was a nightmare. "

I paid €45 for 2 days hire of a small car as you can see. Got picked up really quick at airport by easirent bus, very friendly all ok. Gave in my license, passport etc etc. was told they needed to swipe my credit card there and then for £1500!!! Don't use a credit card as it happens, so offered my debit card instead - he declined.Told then that I'd be charged £90 as a result of no card. This infuriated me as I was there with kids etc, and other people beside who were also complaining. Then I was told they had to take £95 to make sure it came back full of petrol. So €45 has now become €250 or so. Now here comes the dishonesty in my opinion - I didn't want to pay the £90, so he offered it to me for £70 instead - that's a horrible thing to do. That's lying and overcharging and robbery in my opinion. He did upgrade the car and give me 1/4 tank of petrol free of charge but they won in the end, not a nice feeling. They took the £95 petrol and it was refunded few days later. Overall when he offered me £70 instead of £90, it really goes to show the cheating operation they are running. " Numerous problems with this rental as follows; 1. Not immediately apparent at time of booking that the pick up location was not at the airport, but about 10 minutes away by shuttle bus. This should be highlighted before the AE booking proceeds to allow customers make an informed decision on whether they're happy with this arrangement. 2. Vehicle was booked as Passat or equivalent, turned out to be a Honda Civic, which is hardly in the same class / category. 3. Vehicle wasn't ready for collection on time (still being valeted), resulting in a +/- 30 minute delay starting our journey. 4. Bizarrely, I was asked to email a copy of my return flight boarding pass to the rental reception desk at the time of pick-up. This has never happened me before. 5. The credit card deposit I had to pay at collection was STG 1,250.00, which is 4-5 times the amount I've ever had to pay before. The only alternative option offered to this by the agent was to cancel the rental, which wasn't a practical option at that point, making that deposit amount effectively compulsory. This size of a deposit is outrageous, as was the fact that I had no advance notice or warning of it before pick-up. In other circumstances where renters haven't that amount of funds available on their credit cards I'd imagine this regularly forces last minute rental cancellations, with all the resultant inconvenience and disappointment that must cause. 6. Just to add insult to injury, I was then charged a non-negotiable STG 95.00 deposit for fuel, even though the tank was only half full, making the deposit amount about three times the value of the fuel in the car. Again, no advance notice or warning of this requirement. Also, this has never been asked of me by any other rental company, and I'm an experienced and regular renter of cars, invariably through Auto Europe. 7. The rental office was pretty shabby, and the attitude of the rental agent at pick-up was also poor when I raised queries over the two deposit amounts - pretty much "You got your rental cheap so take it or leave it." All-in-all this was a very, very disappointing rental experience. "

They also placed a £95 excess on my card for fuel. When I got finished at the rental desk the car wasn't ready. It was empty of diesel and had to valeted while we waited. When we told the cleaning guy we would take it as it was he told us to wait outside. Then when he had it cleaned he told he had to go and refuel the car which would take another 20minutes at least. At this stage a colleague intervened and said we could follow him to the filling station and he would fill up and leave us on our way. All in all 1 hour plus to pick up our car no one else waiting ahead of us. Poor service really but staff tried to be helpful all the same. "

" I use AutoEurope a lot to hire cars and I am generally satisfied. However, I was trying to rent a car recently from Dublin Airport for 10days from 14 - 24 December and found that your price was much more expensive than Argus car hire. I phoned your company and asked for price matching under your Price Promise and sent all the details to your representative who said someone would contact me the next day. I never heard from anyone the next day. If you have a price promise you should honour it. I was trying to stay with you as my sole supplier and was disappointed by your lack of response. Otherwise the service over the last 6 months has been good. "
" Easirent is not a professional organisation. They are the worst I have encountered for quite some time. Their location is not convenient being in Holiday Inn 5 miles from Bristol Airport. We had to wait over an hour for a representative called Harry to turn up at the little desk on the first floor. He did not apologise for being late. He said our booking was for 4.30pm when all the documents clearly stated 2.30pm. I felt my details such as credit card were unsafe with these people as they just have a little desk on the first floor of the hotel with a couple of filing cabinets and no safe. Harry quoted £52 extra for 2 days excess insurance for a Ford Fiesta when the normal is around 8 per day. Car was OK, Harry was not. To be avoided! "
