The current network of roads in Estonia is quite extensive, however there are few major motorways. In recent years, the government has developed scenic tourist routes that are connected to neighboring countries. The 'Via Baltica' runs south-west from the capital of Tallin through Parnu to Riga, Latvia. The 'Via Estonia' runs south-east from Tallin to the Russian border. The 'Via Hansa' motorway parallels the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland and leads to Narva and St. Petersburg.
Requirements
To rent a car, you must be at least 19 years old (age can vary by car category) and have held your driver's license for at least 1 year. For drivers under the age of 25 an additional young driver surcharge may apply locally. Seatbelts are mandatory.

In Estonia you drive on the right side of the road. Please also be aware that dipped headlights should be used at all times.
Petrol
Petrol can be found in bigger cities and along the motorways. Be sure to fill up your tank before driving in the countryside.
Tolls
There are no motorway tolls in Estonia.
Parking
In some spots you can park by buying a disc or ticket from a meter and place it well visible on your dashboard. Please note that illegal parking might lead to a wheel clamp being placed on your car tires. Always read the parking signs.

Most car categories can be driven within Western Europe. If you wish to drive abroad (outside Estonia) you need to purchase additional coverage. Please note that you may not take your rental car on a ferry. Due to insurance regulations, there are restrictions on luxury car categories and on travel in certain countries. Please take a moment to ensure that your intended itinerary will be possible with the car you plan to book.
Restricted Countries
When you hire a car in Estonia you can normally drive it to Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and other Western European countries. There are different rules applying so please let us know if you plan on taking your car outside of Estonia. There are additional insurance fees that apply for these rentals. Domestic one-way rentals are available between certain locations, additional fees may apply. Fees also apply for international one-way rentals. Some vehicles are prohibited on international one way rentals.
