Requirements
To rent a car in Czech Republic, you must be at least 21 years old (age can vary by car category) and have held your driver's license for at least 1 year. For drivers under the age of 25 an additional young driver surcharge may apply locally. Some suppliers have a maximum age of 70. Seatbelts are mandatory and children up to age 12 must be seated in the back seat.

Traffic restrictions
In the Czech Republic you drive on the right side of the road. Trams should be passed on the right side. Please note that dipped headlights must be used also during day time. In the Czech Republic the blood alcohol limit is zero, while driving. Never drink and drive!
Petrol
Please note that Prague has very few petrol stations. In other cities the stations are located in the outskirts. On the motorway most stations are open 24 h.
Tolls
When travelling on any motorway in The Czech Republic you are compelled to display a motorway toll sticker (Vignette). When you rent a car in The Czech Republic with us at Auto Europe a free toll sticker is normally included in the rate. On your voucher you can read all the details.
Parking
In Prague you can park and pay using meters. Meters with a green stripe allows you to park maximum 6 hours. Machines with an orange stripe indicates that you may park for maximum 2 hours. If you wish to park for a longer time you can use parking garages.

Most car categories can be driven within Western Europe, United Kingdom, Northern Ireland and Ireland. If you wish to drive abroad (outside The Czech Republic) you need to purchase additional coverage. Please note that you may not take your rental car on a ferry. Due to insurance regulations, there are restrictions on luxury car categories and on travel in certain countries. Please take a moment to ensure that your intended itinerary will be possible with the car you plan to book.
Restricted Countries
There are different rules applying so please let us know if you plan on taking your car outside of The Czech Republic. There are additional insurance fees that apply for these rentals.
