" 1. I ordered a small car, pick-up in Rijeka. I was "upgraded" to a larger car as no small cars available, and charged for the "upgrade". 2. Due to a change in plans, I needed to drop-off the car two days earlier, at 07.00. I wasn't allowed to do so as it was outside of normal hours (08.00-20.00), and there would be charges applicable for staff to be there to inspect the car. I wanted to leave the car there at 07.00, without inspection, this wasn't allowed. I had to drop it off the evening before, then bus home and back the next morning, a waste of 3 hours of my time. Incidentally, they did not have a key drop-off box available at the office. 3, I felt I was being treated as if I was stupid, mind you I was for paying for the "upgrade". After that, it was my opinion that they were trying to coerce me into handing over more money for unnecessary services. What other reputable companies do not allow out-of-office-hours drop offs? "

" There was no issue when collecting the car, it was all speedy and efficient. When returning the car I was not aware that the Active Returns were not at the airport but found it in the end. Was concerned when I returned the car about a dent on the car not seen at collection stage. It was a dent which I would put down to "Wear and tear" which is damage that naturally and inevitably occurs as a result of normal wear or aging, in this case driving the car for 15 days. It might have been caused a stone while driving which I could not have been responsible for. The other inspector passed the car as fine and I was relieved, otherwise all was fine with the car and Active. (There was an issue with the passenger's seat belt which at times would lock and would take time to free for use before driving off) "

" Car was dirty on arrival making it difficult to see the actual condition of the paint work. Car was then inspected by myself in the direct sun shine/heat after arrival @ the airport. 2 scratches were found on the vehicle and reported to the ride car employee and logged. The drop off location was then different. 200 meters down the road in a covered shed with direct access to power washer etc. As soon as I arrived at the drop off location I was told there was a scratch on the vehicle. The ride car employee then proceeded to power wash the car in front of me to expose a very slight scratch along the drivers door (barely noticeable). This was an obvious routine that ride car do to charge renters more. Very disappointing "

Why should I then have to pay for something that is outside of my control. Ride Car also charged me for the vehicle papers which should have been provided free of charge (according to all my research before travel). So with the greed card and the scratch my rental price virtually doubled. Neither Ride Car or Auto Europe are a reputable company in my experience. " Oryx in Dubrovnik stole my money. They initially gave me damaged car with about 12 scratches. Only half of them were documented, but oryx agent assured me that all these scratches are noted in paper. Yet I made the pictures for most of the scratches I could discover before taking the car on July 3rd. On my return the car on July 17 they have charged almost 1000 Euro for the scratch that was available before taking the car. Their reason was that it was not documented by the agency I showed them the pictures of these scratches made on July 3, but they insisted that I should pay otherwise they contacted policemen to stop my flight departure from Dubrovnik. This is a fraud and I am going to sue your company for this and inform all forums. "

Most of money oryx dubrovnik makes on extortion money from the customers rather that car rental. The way they proceed is following. Ana Butijer , agency manager, offers damaged cars with the numbers of dents and scratches. Only part of them are documented. They assure the customer that all of the cars defects are well documented, and there is no reason to worry. When customer returns the car one of the "well documented: scratches appear to be not documented at all, and customer is threatened either pat to agency 1000 Euro extra or miss the flight from Dubrovnik since police would block the exit for non-payers. "

" 1) I was given a new voucher for a change in pickup time but Fleet was given an unconfirmed voucher. Fleet and I wasted two hours trying to get Auto Europe to email to Fleet the new confirmed version. They kept sending over the unconfirmed version. 2) I had specified in my reservation I would drop off in a separate location at Zadar but this still entailed additional fee by Fleet. This could've made clearer to me during the reservation process. 3) I updated my drop off time. Again, communication from Auto was terrible. I asked for the confirmed voucher to be emailed to Fleet and me so we have the same versions. I called in 3X and Fleet still didn't get any voucher! Also, being put on hold for 15 minutes and 10 minutes was terrible service. "

" I have one area of complaint. I had read the condition on the voucher about the out of hours charge but decided to query it by calling your call centre at 2010 hours on 17 September. Your agent informed me that since Split was a 24-hour airport there would (definitely!!) be no out of hours charge. It turned out that your agent was wrong - Split is not a 24-hour airport - and the rental company (Enterprise) were within their rights to charge an out of hours fee. The misinformation given by your agent caused difficulties between myself and the rental company. "

" I was misinformed by Autoeurope the day before my holiday and rental pick up, that I would need a e900 deposit and a credit card to hire the car from the car company. I didn't have either and was again misinformed that my debit visa would not suffice and I completely panicked. I was told by ur company not to bother even picking up the car. On arrival at unirent they were more then happy to take a e500 deposit from my debit card without issue. Auto Europe staff are obviously under trained, unprofessional and ruined the start of my holiday due to complete unnessesary panic and stress. "

" I was very displeased with the car hired at Dubrovnik. The cost for travelling to Bosnia was outrageous. I have now checked with the Croatian Insurance Bureau and they have categorically stated, that there is NO cost for entering Bosnia, and they assumed this is some sort of scam. Can you clarify this for me, as I do not want to be overcharged again. Incidentally, I was informed that the cost would be 62,60, but then I was charged 76.82, with no explanation for the difference. " i got charged 100kn because the fuel wasnt exactly full. i filled the car before heading to Zadar airport and used a slight bit of fuel to get there. I was going to fill the car to the brim but there are NO petrol stations from Zadar centre to the airport!!! so i had to pay a charge. Also the bank machine in Zadar airport only lets you take out 200kn so again i got an additional charge for using an ATM abroad and then I got stuck with 100kn which upon changing after i got back to Ireland i lost out on more charges. They refused to accept that the car had a puncture when I got it. Even after offering to pay for the tyre, they did not call back to arrange to have it fixed. I had to find my own puncture repair company to fix it. "
