I've been in touch 3 times already with auto europe customer service and they still have not opened a case. It's likely I won't get a refund now on they grounds of "no show". "

I have stopped getting the extra insurance when i book the car initially as getting the insurance from the provider although dearer makes the hiring process much easier and straight forward. "

I had to wait 20mins for the car, but that was due to the employees valeting it, so that we received a new car (7k km on clock), squeaky clean, full of fuel, screenwash replenished etc. I had to drop-off out of hours and the procedure was easy and explained at pick-up. " I've forgotten my driver license at home. And then the staff told me that I couldn't get a car. I asked him if my friend could be the driver and maintain the booking in my name. And the staff said that it'd be possible if the booking was in my friend's name and also my friend should have a credit card. But my friend has no credit card. The staff's allegation was if the police in somehow could ask my driver license even my friend was driving because the rent was in my name. And the only solution was if I paid an extra insurance that cost 120 euros. And pre-authorised 200 euros on my friend's debit card. My wife works in a hotel, And we know that is no option to do pre-authorization on a debit card. And then I asked what was the difference between the insurance already contracted and that new one he offered me. He just said that previous were associated with the agency I made the booking and the new was from Avantcar. After my friend has paid the amount requested. The staff changed the booking information and provided the contract in my friend's name. I think the staff might receive a commission fee when he "sells" an Avantcar's insurance. And he saw an opportunity to force me to "buy" that insurance. As we had to travel from Zadar to Trogir, And we were 6 people. We decided to pay that extra money. To be honest I felt robbed in 120 euros. Because the staff couldn't convince me that was the only solution. "

" On pickup of car in Dubrovnik a strong sales pitch was made to imply current insurance that we choose with the car was insufficient, then given two cars/vans to drive that were not as per our order- or even close to the skids car we ordered. On contact with the company's office in zagreb city we were told the city office was open until 9, on arrival in the city centre before 8 we realised this was not the case and had to drive back out to the airport. Very disappointing and tiring, especially after rininging to check and the difficult morning that had already delayed us over an hour. In addition the additional charge for a different drop off and pickup was very misleading as it was an added charge after booking. "
