South Africa is an interesting country that offers many attractions and beautiful nature scenery. Hire a car and drive from Cape Town in the southwest, make a stop in Port Elizabeth along the coast and finish in Durban on the East coast. If you wish to travel north you can visit Johannesburg and Pretoria. Please remember to bring extra fuel since there are great distances between petrol stations.
To rent a car, you must be at least 18 years old (age can vary by car category) and have held your driver's license for at least 1 year. For drivers under the age of 25 an additional young driver surcharge may apply locally. Seatbelts are mandatory.

Many of the national roads are toll roads. You pay either by cash or credit card. The cost is between 0.20 - 5.50 EUR.
In many of the bigger cities in South Africa it is hard to find free parking spots. We recommend that you park in a parking garage.

With a rental car in South Africa you may take your car to certain neighboring countries. There are also restrictions on certain vehicles traveling abroad (including Lesotho and Swaziland).
Domestic one-way rentals are available between certain locations, additional fees may apply. Some international one ways are allowed and big fees are to be paid.
